My Curly Fro...

Here are some pictures from 2005. This was my curly fro. I really liked wearing this style because my hair was so thick. However, too much of my hair was coming out while wearing this style. From August 2005 until October 2005, I contemplated on what to do with my hair. I almost went back to the "PERM", but I knew that I really did not want to do that. I started to research 'locks' in general. I had heard of sisterlocks, but I knew that they would cost alot of money to maintain them. I decided to research sisterlocks and came across the sisterlock page. After learning how much you could do with sisterlocks (like styling), I decided to try to find a sisterlock consultant in Columbus, Ohio (this was around October) to learn more about the sisterlock method of locking. Then I decided that maybe I should wait until I start law school in January 2006 and find a consultant in the Michigan area. Unfortunately there were no consultants in the Lansing Michigan area so I had to look in Detroit; and I found a sisterlock consultant about an hour away from Lansing :) ........

I Decided To Go Natural....

I decided to go natural around the summer of 2002. My ex-boyfriend always told me that I should go natural and that it would look really good on me. I remember looking at him like he was crazy, lol (lauging out loud). After I had done research on natural hair, and seeing other people with natural hair, I went ahead and decided to go natural. While my hair grew out, I wore cornrows and micro braids. My newgrowth was soo thick that i could not do much with it but get braids and micros. I knew that I had to cut my permed hair off soon or I'd just pull my hair out trying to comb it.

In December of 2002, I finally decided to cut my permed ends off. Surprisingly I was not scared. The lady that cut my hair had said that she'd just cut a few of my ends and twist it to see how I'd like it. We had got to talking that she forgot to show me :). I had about 1.5-2 inches of new growth. I wore my hair twisted and a fro for awhile and I was loving it. I recieving many compliments; including people who told me not to go natural.

In the picture above, I was natural for about 4 months (April, 2003) My real hair was braided up and my friend had 'added' the ponytail, lol :).
